HA GIANG
* THE FIRST DAY IS NOT ON MOTORBIKES * (see itinerary below)
The Vibe: Low-impact adventure. High-impact connection.
Morning: Valley Mist & Traditions
7:30 AM – 9:00 AM: Breakfast and Briefing
Start slow. Enjoy a traditional breakfast on our stone terrace as the mist lifts off the karsts. We’ll prep the bikes and gear while you soak in the silence.
9:30 AM – 12:00 PM: Two wheels - No Noise!
A gentle bicycle journey through the lush Ha Giang countryside. No engines yet, just the sound of the wind through rice fields.
-
The Secret Stream: Stop for a dip at a local swimming hole.
-
Rice Field Fishing: Get your hands dirty. We’ll head into the flooded paddies to learn the ancient art of bamboo basket fishing. (Warning: It’s harder than it looks).
Afternoon: Heritage Lunch & River Adventures
12:30 PM: Family Style Feast
Return to the Stone House for a big communal lunch featuring fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
A communal-style dining experience typical of the north.
2:00 PM – 4:00 PM: Kayaking and Village Treks
Ditch the pedals for a paddle, board your kayaks, and navigate the calm waters surrounding the city. It’s a 360-degree mountain view you can’t get from the road.
Evening: Sunset, Pool & The Social
5:00 PM – 7:00 PM: Sunset Session
Head to our country-side Poolside Bar (the first of its kind in the region) for chilled drinks and golden hour views.
-
Grab your chilled drinks and snacks then dip in the pool. Served at the best vantage point to watch the valley transition into evening. It's the perfect window for golden-hour photography and winding down after the day's physical activities.
7:30 PM: The Tribe Dinner
A legendary family-style spread back at basecamp. Swap stories, celebrate the day, and fill your belly.
-
Experience: A time to swap stories from the day's adventures and enjoy the night's company.
Post Feast | Games... Games... Games: Gather for some social fun with friendly group games and deep chats. It’s the perfect way to bond before wrapping up the night for a restful sleep.
Why this day is a MUST:
Acclimatize: Get used to the altitude and the heat before the 1,000 hairpin turns begin.
The Pool/Bar Combo: No one else has it. Relax at our Heritage Hide while the others are stuck in noisy city hostels.
Pro-Tip: We built this day because we noticed travelers were arriving in Ha Giang tired and stressed. Our Full Countryside Day ensures you start the loop with a clear head, a full stomach, and a new group of friends. Remember: Loop More starts with a better start.
Overnight: Loop Eco Stone House Ha Giang
* THE FIRST DAY IS NOT ON MOTORBIKES * (see itinerary below)
HA GIANG - DONG VAN
From Valleys to the Hmong Kings
Today the "Party Moderately" strategy pays off. While other groups struggle with the first climb, our tribe is fueled, focused, and ready for the most iconic passes in Southeast Asia. We leave the valley behind and enter the UNESCO Global Geopark.
The Vibe: High-altitude adrenaline. A masterclass in culture.
Morning: The Gateway to the Clouds
08:00 — The Launch. Final check-out from our Ha Giang basecamp. Fuel up with a hearty breakfast, meet your expert guides, and join the morning "Tribe Chat."
The Climb:
- Bac Sum Pass: Your first taste of the hairpins — we stop at the top to look back at the valley you just conquered.
- Heaven's Gate: The highest peak of the morning and the official entrance to the Dong Van Karst Plateau.
- Can Ty Pass: A winding descent through lush landscapes and hidden ethnic hamlets.
Cultural Masterclass:
- Lung Tam Village: Not just a photo op. We visit a traditional brocade-weaving workshop to see how the Hmong turn hemp into art — perfect if you want authentic gifts for your tribe back home.
Afternoon: History & High Passes
12:30 — Yen Minh Pitstop. A well-earned local lunch in Yen Minh Town to recharge for the afternoon's "Big Three" passes.
The Icons:
- Chin Khoanh Pass: Winding roads that look like a staircase to the sky.
- Tham Ma Pass: The most photographed road in Vietnam. Because we "Loop More," we time this stop to dodge the bus crowds.
- Hmong King's Palace: Step back in time at the historic Vuong family fortress and the "Opium King" history that shaped this borderland.
Evening: Rice Paddies & Sunset Social
17:00 — Check-in & Chill. Arrive at Loop Eco Stone House Dong Van, set in the quiet rice paddies below the town — a Heritage Hide worlds away from the noisy hostels in the center.
Sunset Party. Gather on the terrace as the karst peaks turn purple. Chilled drinks, fresh mountain air, 10/10 lighting.
19:00 — The Stone House Feast. A big family dinner of regional Dong Van specialties. Share photos, swap hairpin stories, and toast to the road.
Why this day is "Loop Tours" standard
- Ownership Advantage: We bring you to our own property, not random hostels — the same quality and vibe as Ha Giang.
- Strategic Timing: Starting fresh from Loop Eco Stone House Ha Giang means you hit the major passes when the light is best and the crowds are thinning.
Pro-Tip: We rest early tonight. Tomorrow we tackle the Ma Pi Leng Pass — the "King" of the loop. You'll want your eyes wide open.
Overnight: Loop Eco Stone House Dong Van
DONG VAN - MEO VAC - YEN MINH
The Skywalk and the Forgotten Pass
Yesterday was the icons. Today is where the 4-day really earns its name — past the Skywalk, off the highlight reel, and into the back country most loops never see.
The Vibe: Iconic views. Quiet roads. Time to wander.
Morning: Walking the Clouds
07:00 — Fuel & First Light. Breakfast at our Dong Van basecamp. We hit the road early to beat the fog and the tour buses.
The Hidden Stop:
- Dawn's Diamond Cave: A geological marvel only the locals know — cool interior, soft light, no other tourists.
The Skywalk:
- Ma Pi Leng Skywalk: This is the one. We ditch the bikes to walk the Skywalk trail — a path carved into the cliff face with a 1,500 m vertical view down to the Nho Que River and the Tu San Canyon. The legendary view of the loop, done the slow way.
Midday: Meo Vac Lunch
11:30 — Meo Vac Sky Lunch. A local rooftop spot with views back over the karst plateau — the recharge before the back-country roads.
Afternoon: Off the Highlight Reel
The Quiet Side:
- Khau Vai Village: The famous "Love Market" village — once a year the surrounding ethnic communities gather here for the legendary romantic festival. The rest of the year it's pure, quiet hill-country life.
- Lung Phin Pass: A back-road climb most loops skip entirely — narrow tarmac, terraced hillsides, and not a tour bus in sight.
Evening: Yen Minh Quiet
17:30 — Homestay Check-In. We pull off at our family-run partner homestay outside town.
Family Dinner. Home cooking with the host family. Early night — Day 4 is still a riding day.
Why this day is "Loop Tours" standard
- Beyond the Brochure: Khau Vai and Lung Phin aren't on the standard Ha Giang loop — they're routes Loop scouted for the longer tribes.
- The Right Sequence: Skywalk in the morning when the light is best, then quiet roads for the afternoon. Most 3-day tours blow past both.
Pro-Tip: Khau Vai is quiet most of the year — that's the magic of it. The famous Love Market is only one weekend in spring. Coming on a regular day means meeting actual locals, not navigating a crowd.
Overnight: Yen Minh Homestay
YEN MINH - THAI AN - HA GIANG
Bamboo Boats and the Long Way Home
The final ride flips the script one more time. We trade hairpins for hidden valleys, a bamboo boat to a karst cave, and a roadside waterfall that's still off the maps. By the time you pull back into the Stone House, you'll have seen more of Ha Giang than most riders see in a week.
The Vibe: Hidden corners. Cold water. A pool waiting for you.
Morning: Bamboo Boats
07:30 — Breakfast at the Homestay. Light and quick — the road is short, but the stops are long.
The Bamboo Boat:
- Thai An Cave (Ban An): A hidden karst cave only reachable by bamboo boat — your guides paddle you in and the cave opens up into a vaulted chamber that's a couple of degrees cooler than the air outside. Photos don't do it justice.
Midday: Riverside Lunch
12:30 — Nha Hang Duc Duong Lunch. A local restaurant the guides have used for years — home-style, generous, and the perfect mid-day reset.
Afternoon: One Last Secret
The Last Secret:
- Lung Pu Waterfall: A roadside waterfall the maps haven't caught up to. A short walk in gets you to the pool — and yes, the water is cold and the swim is worth it. Bring a towel.
The Final Farewell
16:00 — Return to Basecamp. Roll back into Loop Eco Stone House Ha Giang. Drop the helmet, dip in the pool, and watch the valley settle in for the evening.
16:30 — Tour Ends. Onward transport to Hanoi (≈ 6–8 hours) is booked separately. Stay one more night by the pool if your schedule allows.
Why this 4-day journey is special
- The Long Way Round: Khau Vai, Lung Phin, Thai An, Lung Pu — four days, every Ha Giang icon plus the hidden routes Loop scouted.
- Exclusive Stays: Our own Loop Eco Stone Houses bookend the trip, with a real partner homestay in the middle. Three properties, three different vibes.
- The Skywalk Done Right: Most 3-day tours rush the Ma Pi Leng. Four days means time to actually walk the trail.
Pro-Tip: Talk to your guide about staying one extra night at the Stone House. The pool's still there, the dinner's still legendary, and you've earned a rest day before the long ride back to Hanoi.
