Day 1: The Ascent to the Karst Plateau
From Valleys to the Hmong Kings
Today, the "Party Moderately" strategy pays off. While the other groups are struggling with the first climb, our tribe is fueled, focused, and ready for the most iconic passes in Southeast Asia. We leave the valley behind and enter the UNESCO Global Geopark.
The Vibe: High-altitude adrenaline. Masterclass in culture.
Basecamp: Loop Eco Stone House Dong Van (Tucked in the rice paddies).
Morning: The Gateway to the Clouds
-
08:00 | The Launch: Final check-out from our Ha Giang basecamp. Fuel up with a hearty breakfast, meet your expert guides, and have the morning "Tribe Chat."
-
The Climb:
-
Bac Sum Pass: Your first taste of the hairpins. We stop at the top to look back at the valley you just conquered.
-
Heaven’s Gate: The highest peak of the morning. This is the official entrance to the Dong Van Karst Plateau.
-
Can Ty Pass: A winding descent through lush landscapes and hidden ethnic hamlets.
-
Cultural Masterclass:
-
Lung Tam Village: This isn't just a photo op. We visit a traditional brocade weaving workshop. Learn how the Hmong people turn hemp into art—and yes, you’ll get to test your skills on the loom.
Afternoon: History & High Passes
-
12:30 | Yen Minh Pitstop: A well-earned local lunch in Yen Minh Town to recharge for the afternoon's "Big Three" passes.
-
The Icons:
-
Chin Khoanh Pass: Winding roads that look like a staircase to the sky.
-
Tham Ma Pass: The most photographed road in Vietnam. Because we "Loop More," we time this stop to avoid the massive bus crowds.
-
Hmong King’s Palace: Step back in time. Explore the historic fortress of the Vuong family and learn the "Opium King" history that shaped this borderland.
Evening: Rice Paddies & Sunset Social
-
17:00 | Check-in & Chill: Arrive at Loop Eco Stone House Dong Van. Located in the quiet rice paddies above the town, it’s a Heritage Hide that feels worlds away from the noisy hostels in the center.
-
Sunset Party: Gather on the terrace as the karst peaks turn purple. Chilled drinks, fresh mountain air, and 10/10 photography lighting.
-
19:00 | The Stone House Feast: A massive family dinner featuring regional Dong Van specialties. Share your photos, swap stories of the day's hairpins, and toast to the road.
Why this Day 2 is "Loop Tours" Standard:
-
Ownership Advantage: We aren't just dropping guests at random hostels. We are bringing you to our very own property, ensuring the same high quality and vibe experienced in Ha Giang.
-
Strategic Timing: By starting fresh from Loop Eco Stone House Ha Giang, you hit the major passes (Tham Ma) when the light is best and the crowds are thinning.
Pro-Tip: We rest early tonight. Tomorrow we tackle the Ma Pi Leng Pass - the "King" of the loop. You’ll want your eyes wide open for this one.
Day 2: The King of Passes & Cultural Currents
From the Skywalk back to the City
The "Party Moderately" choice pays its final dividend today. While other travelers are feeling the fatigue of the road, our group is awake early for the most legendary view in Vietnam. We’ll navigate the heights of the Skywalk and wrap up the journey with a deep dive into the culture of the Tay people.
The Vibe: Epic scales. Heritage connections.
Route: Dong Van → Meo Vac → Ha Giang City
Morning: Walking the Clouds
-
07:00 | Fuel & First Light: Breakfast at our Dong Van basecamp. We hit the road early to beat the fog and the tour buses.
-
The Icons: Ta Lung Cave A hidden geological marvel. We explore the cool interior of this remote cave before the day heats up. * Ma Pi Leng Pass
-
Ma Pi Leng Skywalk This is the one. We’ll ditch the bikes to walk the "Skywalk" trail - a path carved into the side of the cliff that offers a 1,500m vertical view down to the Nho Que River.
Afternoon: Lunch & Valley Traditions
-
12:30 | Meo Vac Lunch: A well-earned break in Meo Vac. We’ll refuel at a local haunt before beginning the final scenic descent.
-
Tay Village Immersion: Cultural Pulse: We visit a traditional Tay village. Unlike the more touristy spots, this is a living community where you’ll see the distinct stilt-house architecture and the unique lifestyle of the Tay people.
-
Performances & Paths: Participate in local cultural performances and take a final short hike through the surrounding natural beauty to soak in the last bits of the North.
The Final Farewell
-
15:00 | Return to Basecamp: Arrive back in Ha Giang City Click to open side panel for more information .
-
The Wrap-Up: Time for a final group photo with your guides and the tribe. You’ll have a chance to freshen up at our basecamp before catching your transport back to Hanoi.
Why this 3-Day Journey is special:
-
Energy Management: By starting Day 1 with our "Warm-Up" countryside experience, guests have the stamina to actually enjoy the Skywalk on Day 3.
-
Exclusive Stays: Staying at our own Loop Eco Stone House Mountain Sanctuaries in Ha Giang and Dong Van ensures a consistent, high-quality experience.
-
The Real North: We prioritize remote partners and hidden villages over the standard "backpacker trail" stops.
Pro-Tip: Don’t sleep on the Skywalk. Most people treat Day 3 as just a "drive home," but for us, it’s the climax. By Looping More and staying sharp, you’ll be on the Ma Pi Leng Skywalk while the late-night party crowds are still rubbing their eyes.
Insider Secret: Have your camera ready for the Ta Lung Cave light—it’s the most underrated photo spot on the entire loop. You came for the mountains, don’t miss them because of a snooze button. ⛰️📸
