Straight Into the Karst

Two days, no warm-up. We launch from Ha Giang City and head straight for the UNESCO Global Geopark — every iconic pass, the Hmong weaving village, and the Vuong family fortress, all before sunset at our Dong Van basecamp.

The Vibe: High-altitude adrenaline. Full throttle from the start.

Morning: The Gateway to the Clouds

08:00 — The Launch. Check out from your Ha Giang accommodation. Breakfast, guide intros, gear check, route briefing, riding order locked in before we throw a leg over.

The Climb:

  • Bac Sum Pass: Your first taste of the hairpins — we stop at the top to look back at the valley you just conquered.
  • Heaven's Gate (Quan Ba): The highest peak of the morning and the official gateway into the Dong Van Karst Plateau.
  • Can Ty Pass: A winding descent through lush landscapes and hidden ethnic hamlets.

Cultural Masterclass:

  • Lung Tam Hmong Weaving Village: Not just a photo op. We visit a traditional brocade-weaving workshop where Hmong women turn hemp into art — perfect if you want authentic gifts for your tribe back home.

Afternoon: History & High Passes

12:30 — Yen Minh Pitstop. A well-earned local lunch in Yen Minh Town to recharge for the afternoon's Big Three passes.

The Icons:

  • Chin Khoanh Pass: A winding road that looks like a staircase to the sky.
  • Tham Ma Pass: The most photographed road in Vietnam. Because we Loop More, we time this stop to dodge the bus crowds.
  • Hmong King's Palace: Step back in time at the historic Vuong family fortress — the "Opium King" history that shaped this borderland.

Evening: Rice Paddies & Sunset Social

17:00 — Check-in & Chill. Arrive at Loop Eco Stone House Dong Van, set in the quiet rice paddies below the town — a Heritage Hide worlds away from the noisy hostels in the centre.

Sunset Session. Gather poolside as the karst peaks turn purple. Chilled drinks, fresh mountain air, 10/10 lighting.

19:00 — The Stone House Feast. A big family dinner of regional Dong Van specialties. Share photos, swap hairpin stories, and toast to the road.

Why this day is "Loop Tours" standard

  • Express, Not Rushed: Two-day tribes still get the Big Three passes, the weaving workshop, AND the palace — all paced so you can actually take photos.
  • Ownership Advantage: Tonight is at our own property, not random hostels. Same quality and vibe across the whole Loop network.

Pro-Tip: Rest early tonight. Tomorrow we tackle the Ma Pi Leng — the King of the loop. You'll want your eyes wide open.

Overnight: Loop Eco Stone House Dong Van

The Skywalk Home

Day 2 is the climax. While other travellers feel the fatigue of yesterday's ride, our group is up early for the most legendary view in Vietnam — and we still have time for a hidden cave and a forgotten waterfall on the way back.

The Vibe: Epic scale. One last secret.

Morning: Walking the Clouds

07:00 — Fuel & First Light. Breakfast at our Dong Van basecamp. We hit the road early to beat the fog and the tour buses.

The Hidden Stop:

  • Dawn's Diamond Cave: A geological marvel only the locals know — we explore the cool interior before the day heats up.

The Viewpoint:

  • Tu San Coffee Viewpoint: The best window onto the Ma Pi Leng Pass. Coffee in hand, you look straight down 1,500 m into the Tu San Canyon and the emerald Nho Que River winding through it — one of the deepest canyons in Southeast Asia. Same legendary view, all the time to actually take it in.

Afternoon: Lunch & The Last Secret

12:30 — Mau Due Lunch. A local kitchen on the road home — recharge before the final descent.

The Last Secret:

  • Lung Pu Waterfall: A roadside waterfall the maps haven't caught up to — a short walk in and a cold dip if you're up for it.

The Final Farewell

17:00 — Return to Basecamp. Arrive back in Ha Giang City around 5:30 PM. A final group photo with your guides and the tribe, and a chance to freshen up before your onward transport.

Onward Transport. Buses to Hanoi (≈ 6–8 hours) are booked separately. Your guides will see you off.

Why this 2-day journey is special

  • Express Without Compromise: Ma Pi Leng, Tu San, weaving workshop, Hmong King's Palace — every Ha Giang Loop icon in 48 hours.
  • The Real North: Hidden stops — Dawn's Diamond, Lung Pu — over the standard backpacker trail.
  • Exclusive Overnight: Loop Eco Stone House Dong Van keeps the tribe vibe high even on a short trip.

Pro-Tip: Don't sleep on Day 2. Most people treat it as a drive home — for us it's the climax. By Looping More and starting early, you'll have the Tu San view to yourself while the late-night party crowds are still rubbing their eyes.
